By comparison, the composite score for home-schooled students that year was 22.5 as per thetermpapers.net. However, with approximately 1.8 million home-schooled students (and assuming that they are equally distributed by age), that is only 8% taking the ACT. It is very unlikely that this represents the same distribution within the two populations. At the extreme, it might suggest that the top 8% of home-schooled stiudents perform a little better than the top 50% of public school students.
